You aren’t the only ones attending tons of weddings this year! At Luxemi, we struggle with the same challenge of what to wear to each event, and how to keep our looks fresh all season long. We asked one of our style experts to share some looks she’s considering for an upcoming Indian fusion wedding. Here’s what she put together for us:
Since Sangeets are already known for their festive atmospheres, and because spring is in the air, I want to pick something bright and fun. I love the Coral Angrakha Salwar with Velvet and Gota Embellishment because it’s light, but has the perfect amount of detailing to feel just formal enough. The heavy velvet border also gives this salwar some major spin power. I’d pair it with Pearl Kashmiri-style earrings. These earrings are amazing because they have the same “wrap-around” effect as traditional Kashmiri earrings, but have fewer moving parts.
I may also borrow the Bright Printed Chiffon Saree by Satya Paul. This Gold Gungaroo Necklace is my favorite new piece this season because it adds a subtle tribal effect to any outfit. That, and with it on, I can always show up to an event with bells on.
Since this is a fusion wedding, I don’t want to pick anything too ornate for the ceremony. I want to reflect the season, and pick colors that feel organic to this time of year. If I don’t wear a saree to the Sangeet, the Ceremony might be my only chance to wear one, and I love the soft net and embroidery of the Spring Green Net Saree with Sequins and Buttas. To add some more sparkle to this look, I’d pair it with the Gold Sequin Blouse by Wild Orchid. Because the blouse is such a statement on its own, I’ll skip a necklace and wear the Multi-Strand Pearl Hanging Earrings on their own.
Another option is the Mango Salwar with Gota Embroidery by Nikasha. At Luxemi, we like to describe Nikasha’s collection as Modern Romantic with a Vintage Feel, and I can’t think of a better way to describe this upcoming wedding! I might add a little more romance to this bright salwar with one of Luxemi’s new hand chains. These pearl and gold hand chains are super delicate and elevate every look with a touch of class. (Note to self: Get a manicure.)
Since this is a fusion wedding, I’ll likely wear a western/European dress to the reception, and incorporate Indian-inspired accessories. This one-shoulder gown from BCBG is one of my favorites, and the color is absolutely perfect for an evening event this time of year. It also matches one of my favorite new Luxemi accessories, the Faux Pearl Belt with Emerald and Ruby Quartz. This versatile belt doubles as a necklace too! For some added shimmer, I might even add a Gold and Green Enamel Elephant Bracelet or subtle earrings. I’ll top off the look some metallic shoes and a cute, Indian-inspired clutch.
