Top 2012 Fashion Trends – Neon, Brocade, Burgundy, Florals + Great Gatsby Bling

With a new year of fashion just around the corner, Luxemi has been doing a lot of reminiscing about our favorite fashion trends of the last 12 months. Here are the 2012 trends we couldn’t live without.

Florals

From the moment this trend started blooming, Luxemi was totally enthralled with all things floral. Whether it was Valentino’s flowery romance or Proenza Schouler’s modern, graphic take on floral, we loved seeing how our fave designers put their touch on this staple print.

Memorable moments: Oscar de la Renta’s iconic poppie and daffodil gown and Sonam Kapoor’s Dolce & Gabbana flower and onion dress.

Luxemi’s take: Our Floral Cotton Gota Salwar features gorgeous embroidered flowers that add a soft touch to this Indian shift dress’ stunning magenta hue.

Burgundy

In case you haven’t noticed, burgundy (also called oxblood or wine) is definitely the “it” color for Fall and Winter 2012. With designers like Jason Wu, Zac Posen and Tibi bringing this hue front and center in high-impact runway collections, burgundy has been on every girl’s fashion radar — including ours!

Memorable moments: Jason Wu’s killer burgundy coats, which totally stole the show at New York Fashion Week.

Luxemi’s take: With fine metallic embroidery and a rich red hue, Luxemi’s Scarlett Saree with Rich Gold Border will make you the belle of this season’s burgundy ball.

Neon Everything

Pantone’s Color of the Year was Tangerine Tango, but given the amount of highlighter yellow we spotted on runways, Red Carpets and the streets in our favorite fashion cities, it was definitely the summer of neon.

Memorable moments: Frieda Pinto’s Atelier Versace dress at Cannes Film Festival and Oscar de la Renta’s neon yellow runway creations.

Luxemi’s take: Our Neon Green Cotton and Silk Saree by Neeru Kumar uses its gorgeous highlighter hue, not embellishments, to make a bold statement.

Brocade

We fell in love when we saw designers like Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Dolce & Gabbana work metallic brocade into their runway looks for Fall 2012. It’s an opulent, Indian-inspired touch that made a major splash in both the East and West this year.

Memorable moments: Dolce & Gabbana’s black, crème and gold brocade collection (especially those knee-high brocade boots!).

Luxemi’s take: Our Red and Gold Brocade Salwar showcases brocade at its most beautiful from its elegant scoop neck down to its metallic gold border.

1920s Jewelry

Even though we’re still holding our breath for the new Great Gatsby flick, we’ve gotten a gorgeous dose of 1920s-inspired bows, headbands and heavy pearl necklaces this year from celebs like Nicole Richie, Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams. This is one trend we don’t see going anywhere anytime soon!

Memorable moments: Michelle Williams’ vintage bow brooch at the 2012 Oscars and Nicole Richie’s deco headband love affair.

We can’t think of a more vibrant way to celebrate your signature style than with eclectic, brightly colored enamel bracelets. And here’s the good news, Luxe fans: there are plenty of ways to infuse a little Indian sensibility into the iconic Hermes or Tiffany enamel bracelet, just in time for summer.

When it comes to spring and summer trends, nothing quite stacks up to enamel bracelets. Known for their sleek, modern shape and, of course, their out-of-this-world hues, Hermes bracelets have quickly become a celeb favorite.

We’ve recently spotted Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and Kim Kardashian wearing Hermes bangles in every color under the sun, but the star who wears the look best is Nicole Richie. We love how she pairs eclectic bracelets with a turquoise knit top and headband to take her Boho chic look to the next level. Our favorite of her bracelets? Definitely the orange Hermes piece (which is even more fashion-forward considering Tangerine Tango is the Pantone color of the year).

tiffany designer enamel bracelets

Although brands from Kate Spade and Chloe to Alexander McQueen have released funky enamel bracelets for spring 2012 (McQueen’s black and silver skull cuff is one of the most memorable we’ve seen), Tiffany & Co.’s iconic Jean Schlumberger bracelet is the crème de la creme.

The legendary designer has been crafting jewel-toned gold and enamel bracelets for years, with stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway using the bracelets as brightly colored accents day or night. Talk about versatility!

Looking for an enamel bracelet with a unique, high-impact shape? Luxemi loves this Gold Plated Bracelet with a Kundan Enamel Center, which has a stunning flower centerpiece that reminds us of the Hermes bracelet’s iconic H motif. Pair that with the peacock bracelet and this whimsical Gold Bracelet with Multicolor Enamel and Crystals, and you’ll definitely achieve the eclectic bracelet look trending for spring and summer.

Spring 2012 Fashion Trend – Headpieces are Boho Glam

Everyone knows 1920s inspired jewelry is trending right now, and for Luxemi, that means one thing: An excuse to wear our favorite headpieces with just about anything in our closets! From Nicole Richie to Alicia Keys and Sonam Kapoor to Louise Roe, Luxemi’s favorite fashionistas are rocking the headpiece this spring to add some boho glam to their casual looks.

We’ve always loved Nicole Richie’s bohemian style, but the fashion icon’s headpiece looks have made us fall in love with her all over again. In the last few episodes of Fashion Star, Nicole has made the headpiece one of her jewelry staples — the ultimate sign that this classic Indian accessory is trending in Spring 2012! In the picture above, you’ll see Luxemi’s take on Nicole’s golden headpiece, the Circular Gold Bridal Headpiece.

Songstress Alicia Keys is never one to shy away from ethnic fashion trends. She was recently spotted wearing a chic silver headpiece at the high-profile Chanel Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter 2012 show in Paris earlier this month. The gorgeous accessory added some quick ethnic flair to her structured blazer. And did we mention it bears a striking resemblance to Luxemi’s Victorian Crystal and Black Stone Tikka?

Another of our favorite celebs, Louise Roe, wore a funky beaded headpiece to an A-List party over the weekend. We love how Louise paired her headpiece with a leather jacket and a tribal print blouse, a striking combination of old meets new. Louise’s headpiece is pictured next to the Black Stone, Ruby Quartz and Crystal Headpiece from Luxemi.

And this trend has International appeal. One of Luxemi’s favorite Indian fashion “It” girls, Sonam Kapoor, wore a stunning Kundan tikka in a recent fashion editorial spread that absolutely made us melt. We love that headpieces can be worn with super ornate traditional Indian sarees and salwars and then can be used to boost a more casual outfit for a girls’ night out.

And if you need any more indication that headpieces belong in your casual look collection, just check out the newsstands. The Spring 2012 Vogue India cover features one of India’s up-and-coming models wearing a swimsuit paired with – you guessed it! – a gorgeous silver headpiece.

Luxemi loves how the Indian headpiece is being worn with everything from traditional sarees to leather jackets and structured blazers to swimsuits! Want to snag the Spring 2012 headpiece look? Luxemi has headpieces that are chic for any occasion!

1920s Jewelry Trend: Great Gatsby with an Indian Twist

With the much-anticipated Great Gatsby remake hitting theaters soon and celebs walking the Red Carpet in flapper-inspired gowns, the 1920s are roaring back into style. Luxemi loves how the big screen version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel is inspiring chic twists on Art Deco style. Here’s our short list of the 1920s jewelry looks you should be wearing right now!

Nothing says flapper more than a chic, sequined headband. And when Charlize Theron wore a vintage 1920s Cartier headband to the 2012 Golden Globes, the Young Adult actress catapulted the accessory into the fashion spotlight. Michelle Williams and Taylor Swift wear the headband look to a tee, but we think Nicole Richie does this flapper accessory the most justice. We love the Indian inspired drape of her gold charm headband and can’t help but see its striking resemblance to this Circular Gold Bridal Headpiece in the Luxemi collection.

Another to-die-for 1920s look we’ve been spotting a lot lately is a heavy pearl strand necklace with an oversized drop pendant. Mandy Moore won rave reviews when she wore a statement necklace featuring five strands of massive pearls and a diamond cluster pendant while she was promoting her film Tangled. Given the necklace’s perfect mix of Art Deco sophistication and bling, we could easily imagine F. Scott Fitzgerald’s infamous party girl wife, Zelda Fitzgerald, wearing a similar look during a glamorous night out with her husband. For your own spin on the pearl and diamond statement necklace, try our Deco Style Crystal and Pearl Set. With subtle pearls, a clover-shaped pendant and ample crystals and black drops, this necklace makes a bold but fun 1920s statement.

When Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig hit the 84th Annual Academy Awards Red Carpet wearing stacked 1920s diamond bracelets, she made it on our best jewelry at the Oscar’s list. The sleek, geometric quality of Kristen’s bracelets is a major trend in accessories right now, and what makes this style even better is that there’s also a bit of Indian influence in the stacked bracelet look! Want Indian inspired 1920s jewelry in seconds? Stack four of our Diamonique Bracelets with Diamond Patterns, slip on your favorite tikka, and transform into the vision of 1920s Indian vogue.

Whether you’re head over heels for the 1920s or stuck on the 1960s, Luxemi can help you find your signature retro style. Have you seen any other Great Gatsby looks on the runways or Red Carpets lately? Let us know!
