Up until now, Summer 2012 has been all about the florals, neons, and embellished midriff blouses. That’s why the crisp white dresses we’re seeing on celebs and runways are such a breath of fresh air. Here’s a glimpse of the white dress trend at its best, as worn by Luxemi co-founder and style maven Swathi Narra.
It’s impossible to miss the flurry of white in Summer 2012 collections, with Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Giambattista Valli, Stella McCartney and Diane Von Furstenberg all taking a reprieve from neons and florals to send white-hot gowns down the runway. Celebs like Jennifer Aniston, Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone and Nicole Kidman have all rocked white dresses this summer to keep their look light and fresh, both on and off the Red Carpet.
Want to emulate the white trend? Just follow Swathi’s lead. When our resident fashionista needed a summery wedding outfit, she knew exactly what to wear: Luxemi’s stunning White and Silver Gota Angrakha Salwar. The salwar has a delicate pearl border and ribbon motifs that give it a definite 1920s vibe, and Swathi played up the look’s flapper qualities by pairing it with layered pearl strand necklaces and floral motif earrings. To get the look, try wearing this salwar with Luxemi’s Lotus with Pearl Ball Earrings, and a set or two of these Layered Pearl Necklaces by Kenneth Jay Lane.
To polish off your “less is more” look, choose a soft, neutral-tone lipstick. Luxemi’s favorite is the Nars Orgasm Multiple, which has a peachy hue and a hint of gold shimmer. (Want to take the look a step further? Check out the rest of the gorgeous Nars Orgasm cosmetic line!)
Whether you’re attending a wedding or want to make a soft summer statement, a simple white dress is the perfect way to reflect your fresh, sophisticated side. Want more fashion inspiration? With the much-anticipated Great Gatsby remake hitting theaters soon and celebs walking the Red Carpet in flapper-inspired gowns, the 1920s are roaring back into style. Luxemi loves how the big screen version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel is inspiring chic twists on Art Deco style. Here’s our short list of the 1920s jewelry looks you should be wearing right now!

Nothing says flapper more than a chic, sequined headband. And when Charlize Theron wore a vintage 1920s Cartier headband to the 2012 Golden Globes, the Young Adult actress catapulted the accessory into the fashion spotlight. Michelle Williams and Taylor Swift wear the headband look to a tee, but we think Nicole Richie does this flapper accessory the most justice. We love the Indian inspired drape of her gold charm headband and can’t help but see its striking resemblance to this Circular Gold Bridal Headpiece in the Luxemi collection.

Another to-die-for 1920s look we’ve been spotting a lot lately is a heavy pearl strand necklace with an oversized drop pendant. Mandy Moore won rave reviews when she wore a statement necklace featuring five strands of massive pearls and a diamond cluster pendant while she was promoting her film Tangled. Given the necklace’s perfect mix of Art Deco sophistication and bling, we could easily imagine F. Scott Fitzgerald’s infamous party girl wife, Zelda Fitzgerald, wearing a similar look during a glamorous night out with her husband. For your own spin on the pearl and diamond statement necklace, try our Deco Style Crystal and Pearl Set. With subtle pearls, a clover-shaped pendant and ample crystals and black drops, this necklace makes a bold but fun 1920s statement.

When Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig hit the 84th Annual Academy Awards Red Carpet wearing stacked 1920s diamond bracelets, she made it on our best jewelry at the Oscar’s list. The sleek, geometric quality of Kristen’s bracelets is a major trend in accessories right now, and what makes this style even better is that there’s also a bit of Indian influence in the stacked bracelet look! Want Indian inspired 1920s jewelry in seconds? Stack four of our Diamonique Bracelets with Diamond Patterns, slip on your favorite tikka, and transform into the vision of 1920s Indian vogue.
